Mike Atkinson, Director at Bellingham Wallace, explains why we're involved with the North Harbour Club and how the relationship aligns with our values.
Established back in 1995, the North Harbour Club boasts a thriving membership of over 220 distinguished individuals, each recognized as leaders in the realms of local affairs, business, education, sports, and social development within the broader North Harbour region. The Club's primary mission is to champion excellence by actively supporting and providing financial aid to the region's exceptional young talents, aged 13 to 25, who are achieving remarkable feats on the global stage in their chosen fields.
This unwavering commitment to nurturing budding brilliance is carried out through the prestigious AIMES Awards program, which, since its inception in 1995, has disbursed over $3.0 Million in grants to the region's aspiring youth. AIMES Award recipients must demonstrate outstanding accomplishments in diverse categories, including The Arts, Innovation (Science and Technology), Music, Education, Sport, and Service to the Community.
As the President of the North Harbour Club, this role affords me the distinct privilege of primarily supporting the exceptionally talented young minds of the North Harbour Region in their pursuit of excellence. Witnessing the caliber of our future leaders at the Club's Award ceremonies, as well as celebrating the remarkable achievements of seasoned award winners enshrined in the North Harbour Business Hall of Fame, is immensely gratifying, humbling, and exhilarating.
